Sorry didn't make it clear - I think the Adrian saved thing bugged me purely because the commentator didn't mention that the header probably wasn't on target and made it seem like we desperately held on and we're lucky to grab a draw when in fact they didn't really come close to equalising

I think it was more the John Merrick bag I was wearing after pressure from the opposition who said my face was cheating, charley

Adrian made a great reflex save from wickhams header but I'm sure the header was actually going over. The ball is going up and Adrian tips it over but his hand is almost above the bar when he touches it"

I think that's the weirdest moanup I've ever seen. If you expect your goalkeeper to think about it before making a closecall save, the balls going to be in the back of the net while the goalies still rooted to the spot thinking "oh, it looked over to me"

There's was a pen, unlucky on our part but defo a pen.

Ours should definitely have been a pen, unlucky for us, as was the sending off.

Just carrying on the bad decisions against us from last season.

The law is based on if you stop the opposing player, illegally, doing what he is attempting to do, regardless of whether it was done intentionally or not.

Ogbonna's was a nailed on penalty and that if happened to one of our players you would want it called a penalty all day long. He may not have known much about it but he took him out. Nailed on.

Having let in two that I thought were going wide in my ten-minute stint in goal in Sunday's 6-a-side, I'm in a bad position to criticise anyone for making sure

Re: ⚽ Crystal Palace v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
Can't believe some think they should have had a penalty as it wasn't intentional ie Oggy didn't know he was there and was just trying to whack the ball away.

Like a murderer saying he shouldn't be jailed, as the person he shot wasn't the person he was aiming at, so it was accidental.

Can't believe Adrian is getting a dig for that save. Keepers have to be 100% sure, and if that means tipping over a ball that we can see in hindsight might be just going over of hitting the bar, then so be it. The last thing they want is to leave a ball and then find it hits more of the bar than they thought it would and comes back into play. If in doubt, get it out.

Being in the seat right by the Palace fans on Saturday... my favourite away day for a long long time - probably since Anfield a year ago. Rocking from before the match started and even playing 90s house music by the stall selling the food...

Safer than letting it potentially rebound off the bar I reckon

I'm not sure why it would bug you. Adrian didn't have time to decide whether it was going in, hitting the bar or going over.

Yeah I thought that too Sniper.

Was a great save, and one that he needed to make, but it was definitely going over or hitting the top of the bar at the very least.

Trevor - as Nobes said, he does that 10 times a night without getting a card.

kylay - exactly my thoughts as well. It HAS to be a card for diving, or it's a penalty. He simply can't have seen the contact, ruled a penalty out and then booked him for dissent, because there was just as much contact as the one he gave on Benteke.

Of course, I wouldn't have thought he would find the second "foul" worthy of a yellow either, so anything is possible.

Re: ⚽ Crystal Palace v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
Cresswel's 2nd yellow definitely not though. If officials (and it was the lino who gave it) are giving yellow cards for that sort of "foul" then we might as well all pack up and go home now.

I agree totally with Fifth here, that's a foul. I thought the Ogbonna incident was definitely a penalty when I first saw it.

I've heard the same about cresswell's first being for dissent as opposed to simulation. That's would be even worse, imo, as Atkinson would have known there was contact (not simulation) but waived off the penalty. If Benteke's is a stonewall pen, there can be no disputing Cresswell's was a pen (at least he had possession).

Re: ⚽ Crystal Palace v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-1
EAH from what Webb said he saw the ref asking the lino if cresswell held zaha back. personally it was never a foul for me, and ogbonna did something almost exactly the same a few minutes later and didnt even get a talking to.

Saul if you swing and make contact with opponent then it's a foul. Under laws of the game it was "careless"
